Koushik Chatterjee, Group CFO of Tata Steel said that external capital will be tough to raise. They have syndicated their entire Corus acquisition debt, he said. The company does not have any immediate fund requirements or any balance sheet issues, he said. Cost of capital is higher as the premium on risk is much higher, he said. Overall leverage will not allow companies to take on too much external capital, Chatterjee said. Steel growth will be tad lower than the 6.5% forecasted, he added. Even at lower demand, steel would have supply constraints, he said. Chatterjee feels that spot steel prices have softened a bit. Raw material metal spread is still at comfortable levels, he said. The company is targeting combined return on capital of 30% in five years. The precious metals have bounced back drastically. So gold and silver had 11-15% rallies but base metals generally have been grinding down globally over the last couple of months. .NS |

Buy Cairn India for Rs 287 .We believe that Cairn India Limited (CIL) stock is attractively priced and offers upside as crude oil price continues to remain high. The stock is a momentum play on rising crude oil price. CIL's profit sharing contract with the government, which is over and above the production sharing contract with ONGC, makes it misleading to value the stock on P/E, EV/EBIDTA and EV/barrel of oil equivalent (boe) reserve. Based on DCF of Rajasthan block, which is going to account for almost 85% of total production of CIL going forward, the stock looks undervalued at the current level..NS |

This was mainly on account of the delivery growth of 11.5% and strong steel prices in the European markets. The domestic steel players have been struggling to maintain their Margins, due to intervention by the government to control prices. Tata Steel has, however, been an exception on account of being the most efficient player and being the most integrated player in both iron ore and coking coal compared to its peers. However, correction in the global steel prices remains as a major risk for Corus?s profitability." |

Keep Hindustan Zinc to buy with a target price of Rs 830. The company has reported a 16.6% YoY decline in topline to Rs 16,436 million and a 31.9% YoY fall in operating profit to Rs 9,777 million during Q1FY2009. Considering that LME zinc prices were lower by 42% YoY, the decline in sales and profit does not come as a surprise. In fact, the company has managed to offset the impact of lower LME prices through volume growth to some extent. The first quarter profit of Rs 8,478 million is 30% of our full year estimate for FY2009E. |

Buy NIIT with target price of Rs 107. Going ahead, we expect NIIT to clock a CAGR of 19.8% and 29.4% in Top-line and Bottom-line respectively, over FY2008-10E. We expect Top-line growth to be driven by the ILS Business, which is expected to grow at a CAGR of around 37% over the same period, with ILS-IT expected to grow by 29.3% CAGR and ILS-FMT by a robust 98.4% CAGR. The SLS Business is expected to clock a CAGR growth of 28.7%, while the CLS Business is expected to clock a subdued 5.7% CAGR growth over the same period. We expect EBITDA Margins to rise by around 100bp annually led by operating leverage in the ILS Business, particularly ILS-FMT. At the CMP, the stock is trading at 11.7x FY2010E EPS. We have downgraded our EPS estimates for FY2009 and FY2010 by 12% and 13% respectively, on account of lowering our Top-line and Margin estimates for the CLS Business, which has recorded a below-par performance. t. |

Marico recorded a turnover of Rs 601 crore during Q1FY09, a growth of 28% over Q1FY08. The growth was across all its businesses (consumer products in India, international business and Kaya skin solutions). More than half of the growth ? about 15%- came from volume expansion. During the quarter, Marico achieved a Profit After Tax (PAT) of Rs 46 crore, a growth of 15% over Q1FY08. Consumer Products Business ? Domestic: Parachute continued to maintain its leadership in India. During the 12 months to May ?08, it had a volume market share of 48% in the branded coconut oils category, led by Parachute and Nihar showing volume growth ranging from 8% to 10%. The Saffola refined edible oils franchise grew by 28% in volume over Q1FY08, led by Saffola Gold. The volume growth was boosted by the introduction of a new variant, Saffola Active. Even as the brand operates in the niche super premium segment of the market in India, its strong and relevant proposition ensures a broadening consumer base. The Hair Oils category experienced healthy growth. As in the past, the company has focused on rigid pack sales of its portfolio. Marico?s hair oils in rigid packs grew 26% in volume over the corresponding quarter in the previous year. During the quarter, Marico commenced the prototype of Parachute Advansed Night Repair Cream and Maha Thanda Hair Oil. Other new products recently rolled out include Parachute Advansed Starz, Hair & Care Almond Gold and Saffola functional food for Diabetics. Said Saugata Gupta, CEO- Domestic Consumer Products Business. ?In an uncertain and difficult macro environment, we have focused on growth in consumer franchise. Such growth may come at a higher cost than before, but the investment would pay for itself in the long run.? International Business: Marico?s international business grew by 37% during Q1FY09. In its traditional markets (the Middle East and Bangladesh), the FMCG business continued to grow and record share gains. In Bangladesh, Parachute coconut oil extended its market dominance backed by strong marketing support. During the 12 months ended May ?08, its market share was 69%. The thrust on expanding the franchise of Parachute hair cream in the Middle East continues. A refurbished campaign for the anti-dandruff variant of the cream was launched targeting Asian Males in the GCC region, helping in capturing the ?problem solution? user segment. The Egyptian brands, Fiancée and HairCode currently enjoy a market share of 62%. The process of integration of the business in South Africa is progressing well. During Q1FY09, Marico South Africa, led by the brands Caivil, Black Chic and Hercules clocked a turnover of Rs 14 crore. Said Vijay Subramaniam, CEO- International Business- ?For Marico Overseas, this year is one of consolidation, as we build on the inorganic gains of the past two years.? Kaya: During Q1FY09, Kaya recorded a turnover of Rs 36 crore, a growth of 62% over Q1FY08. Revenue growth in clinics in India in Q1FY09 that were operational in Q1FY08 too was 25%. Kaya introduced a Deep Pigment Reducer Peel under its skin renewal system in Mumbai. The results have been encouraging and the service has been extended to Delhi with plans of a national roll out during Q2FY09.At the beginning of FY09, 65 skin clinics were operational, 56 in India and 9 in the Middle East. During Q1FY09, Kaya has opened 4 new clinics. Three of these are in existing cities. Kaya is now offering its services for the first time to customers in Lucknow. In the Middle East, a new clinic was opened in Sharjah. Kaya is well on track to open about 15 clinics during the year. Kaya Life offering holistic weight management solution which was launched in FY08 currently has 3 centers ? all in the city of Mumbai. Rakesh Pandey, CEO Kaya said ?We are pleased that along with organic growth, we are holding the momentum for new clinic set ups.? Outlook: The environment has been experiencing significant inflation in input prices, across crude oil derivatives, polymers and edible oils. Price increases may protect absolute margins, but percentage margins do tend to suffer for all players in the Industry. Against this backdrop, Marico intends to maintain its focus on long term sustainable growth, by continuing to invest in creating growth engines for the future. ASP Spends are likely to be maintained, so as to strengthen established brands and build new ones. Milind Sarwate, Chief of HR & Strategy stated- ?Marico considers it important to not get distracted by the cacophony of the economic slowdown. We will think beyond the immediate quarters and strategise for long term value creation.? Sourced From: Perfect Relations Limited |

Buy Canara Bank with a target price of Rs 278. In 1st Q FY09, we expect the bank would report marginal growth of 3.1% (Y-o-Y) in NII to Rs 9.2 billion; flat growth in NII would be due to higher cost of funds; higher proportion of whole-sale deposits would dent NII growth. Also lower yield on advances and decline in CASA share would lead to pressure on net interest margin.estimated operating profit to record 6.0% growth (Y-o-Y) to Rs 6.48 billion. We estimate that in FY2009, Canara Bank's net profit would de-grow by 2.7% to Rs 15.2 billion compared to Rs 15.6 billion in FY2008 therefore considering the bank's financial performance the stock may not give required return. |

buy Wipro for a target price of Rs 477. Wipro in 1QFY2009 recorded a decent 5.6% qoq growth in Top-line. This was driven primarily by impressive pricing-related increases, as also the Rupee depreciation witnessed during the quarter. Despite the Margin expansion witnessed this quarter, Wipro?s Bottom-line grew by 3% qoq, slower than the growth in EBITDA. This was on account of lower Other Income (down 17.9% qoq), higher Interest Costs (up by as much as 65.2% qoq) and higher Taxes paid (Effective Tax Rate of 14.5% v/s 13.8% in 4QFY2008). Wipro recorded forex losses to the tune of Rs 69.7 crore in 1QFY2009. |

Buy on HDFC with target price of Rs 2400.HDFC posted 35% growth in its net interest income for Q1FY09 to Rs 6.6billion. Growth was backed by 31% YoY growth in loan book to Rs 773 billion and 4bps improvement in spreads to 2.26%. However, NII growth was slightly below our estimates due to faster rise in deposit costs, up 17.7% YoY and 32.7% QoQ. Treasury income was nil during Q1FY09. Both these factors mainly resulted in reported earnings being lower by 7% at Rs 4.7billion against our estimate of Rs 5.1 billion. At current valuations, HDFC is trading at 3.6x and 3.2x its book value for FY09E and FY10E respectively. |

Buy TCS for target price of Rs 878. Though the Q1 FY09 performance of TCS was sedate, as expected, and business outlook remains challenging, the stock is likely to outperform in the short-term given the bleak expectations before the results. Over the last three months, TCS has significantly underperformed the sector especially vis-à-vis similar-sized peers, Infosys and Wipro, due to higher uncertainty about its Q1 FY09 performance. |
